Many parents wonder if their children's behavior is normal, a stage, or if something isn't right. Raising our children to be good, kind, and responsible adults who choose to do the right thing is not easy, but most importantly, are we helping or hurting them by shielding them from the tougher parts of everyday life?

Parenting for Brain explains the negative Psychological effects that overprotective and helicopter parenting can have on our children. Teaching our children how to properly deal with, and cope in hard situations, means having tough conversations and being supportive during times of loss and failure. Although it may be easier to avoid these types of hard situations, they must happen in order for our children to be independent, healthy-minded adults. Studies show that adolescents of overprotective parents are more likely to have low self-esteem, suffer from depression and anxiety, be targets of bullying, and have difficulty making their own decisions.

If you need help navigating the journey of parenting or you think your child may suffer from depression, anxiety, or some form of mental illness, or maybe just need to talk to someone about their feelings, there are many options.

Here are a few places close to home, most of them offering virtual visits to accommodate your schedule and comfort level.
