Teen Camp:
Teen Camp is designed for campers entering grades 8-10 who are looking for a summer adventure. Campers begin the week at Ohiyesa before heading up north to our partner camp, Nissokone, to experience the best of both of our great camps. Teen Camp ends back at Ohiyesa on Saturday.
Survivor:
Start the week learning and practicing the basics of survival skills, such as shelter building, fire building, orienteering, finding food and more. Then, use your knowledge to work as a team to complete survival challenges and earn survivor coins. We will also use our outdoor skills to have a campout one night during the week.
Robotics:
Explore the world of robotics! An introduction to the mechanical world, work with other campers to build a Lego robot creation that you’ll even program to move. Your counselor will guide you through the robotics software to make your robot recognize colors, pick up small items and drive.
Camp News Network:
This just in, the Camp News Network is looking for reporters to chronicle the goings-on of Camp Ohiyesa! Come investigate all of the headline news happening at camp, video tape reports from the field and write articles about what you discover that will be part of our newspaper at the end of the week.
Drama:
It’s time for the show! Drama campers spend the week creating sets and costumes, learning lines, and rehearsing. The week concludes by performing their play for campers and parents.
Ponderosa:
Ponderosa Ranch Camp at Camp Ohiyesa is an overnight camp program designed for horse-lovers. A wonderful opportunity to enjoy horses, Ponderosa Ranch Camp teaches fundamental horse riding, maintenance and care:
- safety on and around horses
- leading horses, mounting and dismounting procedures
- controlling your horse in a walk and a trot, in the ring and out on trails
- improving your skills in the disciplines of English and Western riding
- grooming, saddling, bridling
- basic horse health care, breed characteristics, etc.
In addition, Ponderosa Ranch Campers have an opportunity to be part of the all-around care of the Ohiyesa herd, from the morning feeding to barn cleanup in the evenings. Spending the evenings at camp allows for more time to make friendships with other horse-lovers, more ring work, horse games, and several trail rides throughout the week.
Ranchers will have this horse focus while still being able to participate in most other camp activities, such as the waterslide, zip line, canoeing and archery.
